Things I know: Runts

I know that death is a part of life. We have all heard of the cycle. I have seen my share it, grandparents, an Aunt, a cousin, a kitten and so on. I am lucky enough to have my parents, spouse and children alive and kicking. This house has seen a lot of animal death, my dog Athena has given birth to 7 still born puppies in the last two days and now the runt of the pack is looking grim. The hardest part of this equation is how my son will take this, will he even notice? He wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up and takes these things personally.

Who is to say why the little brown puppy is the weak one? Maybe I have a soft spot for this little girl because I was four pounds at birth and considered a runt. Still am, at 5 feet tall my height is commented on daily.

Should we name her? I suppose not but to die without a name seems to be the saddest part of all.

Things I know: Dogs

My dog had her puppies at 2 Am last night, well that is when it started. They kept coming for a few hours after that. Something I know now, that I am ever so thankful not to be a dog. She is in there with 7 puppies hanging on her nipples. Ouch.

She looks exhausted! The puppies are cute but she did decide to have them in our bedroom on the carpet. My bedroom smells really gross despite the spot cleaning and air freshener's that we have used. My husband managed to get her to move to our bathroom after puppy number four cam out. Needless to say I am residing in the guest bedroom for a bit and using the guest bathroom. Not just because of the grossness but also because the adorable day old puppies are VERY loud. So something I know, I am grateful for single births and formula.

Things I know: Anger

I know that those that we love, we love for a reason. Pointing out everything that they do to annoy us  or that we do not agree with is pointless. Constructive criticism is not always welcome or needed. Accepting people for they are will really make your life better in the long run.

Just because we disagree with the way that someone lives their life or how they behave is no reason to dislike them as a person. Just because someone is different than you does not justify you disliking them or talking badly about them. Besides the less hate you harbor the less stress you carry around with you. Which will lead to a longer life, or at least a happier one.

What do I know?

So, why do you care what I know? Well maybe you don't but I have found it in my best interest to search the world for new information constantly. Everyone has their niche right? Well my niche happens to be a few things. Writing and reading are one, I have been a writer since I was 6, I got serious about my craft by age 11. 28 years later I still love it, I do it, I research it and I breathe it. So, maybe I know a few things about it.

I also know about education. I teach honors English at a local high school. I began to succeed in my career field of education after I received my Masters, well to be fair I didn't begin teaching until I received my Master's for the most part. Anyhow, I love it and I think I am pretty good at.

I know about parenting, I had my daughter 16 and I have managed to keep her alive and not hating me for 13 years thus far.

I know about being a wife, I am no honeymooner or old married lady, almost 7 years under my belt and I couldn't be happier.

I know about happiness. I used to be in a constant struggle for it. Now it comes naturally, you can image my enemies joy of the smile that always rests on my lips. Of course if I have enemies I am blissfully unaware of them.

I didn't start this blog to brag about my life, I started it to tell you the things I know. Part of my job is advice, teaching teens and being a friend and all. So, I am here to tell you what I know and to give advice, if needed. If not, then I figure I will ramble on because on a site like this, who will stop me?
